Understanding Red Dog Poker 101

Red Dog is a variation of the highly popular card game poker. The game involves betting using chips placed in a pot. Here we will look at the rules of playing red dog poker.

The game can be played by two to ten players who all have the objective of winning their bet during their turn. Aside from the standard 52-card deck, poker chips and counters are likewise needed in this game.

Prior to the start of the game, each player will pick a card. Whoever chooses the highest card will be the first dealer. The cards are then shuffled and players receive cards face down. The direction of the game is on a clockwise pattern beginning from the player positioned on the left side of the dealer. If there are over eight players competing in the game, each participant will be dealt four instead of five cards. The remaining cards are then laid on the table in a facedown position to serve as the stock. For the next hands, the player on the left of the previous dealer gets their chance to play the role.

Every player contributes one chip to the game pot. At any point in the game when there is no money on the pot, players should ante up their chips to fill it. Upon inspection of their hand, the first competitor bets an amount that represents a percentage or matches of the pot. The bet must not be more than the amount of chips in the pot. If the competitor opts not to make a bet, they still need to ante a chip to the pot. When the bet is in place, the dealer flips the top card facing up from the deck.

In order to win money from the pot, a player must have a superior card of similar suit with the one which was chosen by the dealer from the stock. If the value of the card is not higher, the player must show their entire hand and add the amount of chips equal to their bet. Players then make their turn in betting and showing their top card from the deck until everyone has had their turn to make a wager.
